Who is Ibraheem Shaddy Azooz?

Ibraheem Azooz was an American rapper who released his first single in 2014. He left a large impact on the music industry by taking his listeners to another world, one that others have been unable to achieve. 

Ibraheem passed away on July 22nd, 2016 at the age of 26 due to his heart condition.

Ibraheem was born on January 10th, 1994 as Youssef Rashid Azooz into a family of nine children in Springfield, Illinois and he grew up there.

 Growing up while having so many siblings wasn’t always easy but Ibraheem found himself being able to connect with people through writing and singing poetry. 

This led him to being able to sing at his home and school’s talent show, being the youngest one on stage, which he enjoyed.

In 2010, Ibraheem moved out of Illinois to live with his dad in Pearland and then moved into his own apartment in Spring Branch. In Spring Branch, Ibraheem switched schools but he continued pursuing his passion for writing and singing.

Ibraheem’s life took a different turn when he was diagnosed with a heart condition at the age of 19, but didn’t stop him from pursuing his dreams of making a career on what he loved to do

. After being released from the hospital, Ibraheem wanted to become better by going on long runs around Houston.

What happened to ibraheem azooz ?

1. Early in 2015.

 Ibraheem’s brother Youssef, also a rapper by the name of Don Trip, took him to Dallas where he met with his music industry connections.

 This led Ibraheem to start working on his first mixtape, “The Sun Rises in the East”, which takes its title from a short poem about Jesus Christ that Azooz wrote when he was younger.

2. “It’s a message for those who don’t believe in Christ,” said Azooz before the tape’s release. 

“It challenges them to contemplate and strengthen their convictions.” The significance of this quote is that it shows how Ibraheem found himself being able to share his message through his music and words.

3. On April 24th, 2015.

 Ibraheem released his first single called “The Sun Rises in the East”. The single became a radio favorite and even made it to number 11 on the US Rap Performance chart.

4. “The Sun Rises in the East”.

It was later released as a mixtape on January 23rd, 2016 under Azooz Music Group. 

It featured guest appearances from Joseline Hernandez (Teairra Mari), Don Trip and more but soon after its release, Azooz got into a car crash that left him in critical condition on July 22nd, 2016.

5. Ibraheem was pronounced dead later that day at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

A lot of people were impacted by Ibraheem’s music and this brought him a large fan base. Ibraheem’s brother Don Trip, who recently released a song for his late brother, said it best: 

“I’ve been telling people since the beginning, ‘You’re going to be around.’ You’re going to leave your mark in the game.” This shows how many people around him believed in what he could make with his music and lyrics. a lot of people lost hope and Ibraheem brought that hope back.

6. After being released from the hospital, Ibraheem started making a change by going on long runs every day.

Later that year, Ibraheem’s family decided to pursue a GoFundMe page to pay for his funeral. This showed how many people wanted to remember Ibraheem and give him the peace that he deserved.

7. In 2017, a documentary on Ibraheem’s life called “Don’t Stop” was released. 

The documentary was directed by Princess DaShana and features Ibraheem’s music along with interviews with his family, friends and more.

8. Ibraheem’s family and friends .

They started the #Ibrahim Azeez Foundation after his passing to raise money for prenatal checks, heart health care and more.

9. The “Don’t Stop” documentary was released on July 19th, 2017 at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas, Texas. 

The documentary was also released on iTunes and other digital forms of media. The documentary was well-received by its viewers because it shows Ibraheem’s life from when he first moved to Texas to his death in 2016.

10. Ibraheem’s family .

His family and friends also started the Ibraheem Azooz Foundation/GoFundMe page to raise money for health care.

11. Azooz struggled with his heart condition.

 Since he was a child and after it was released from the hospital, he continued to run while focusing on keeping healthy so that he wouldn’t have another illness. 

12. Ibraheem’s sister.

His sister Stephanie Azooz, who is a singer-songwriter in her own right, was able to raise $18,000 for her brother’s funeral through the GoFundMe page and also through donations from fans. 

Don Trip also decided to take on his brother’s legacy by creating his own album called “Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing” which he plans to release later this year. 

Trip says he wants to make sure that people are able to listen and understand what it meant to Ibraheem and how important it was for him to do so.

 This shows how much of an impact Ibraheem had on people.
