The world has a lot of ways of marketing. The way I see it is that there are three levels of marketing.
First is the level where you just pitch your idea to someone. This is where most sales people land their first job.
I hate to say it but this is the level that most people in the world can land their first job. The second level is the level where you try to convince someone to do something. After that, you can move on to the third level, the level where you try to sell them.
In my opinion (and I am biased here) the most successful salespeople are the ones who know what they need to sell and can sell that to the person in front of them. So basically this is the level where you try to convince the customer to buy what you sell. I have found the best salespeople are the ones who know what they need to sell and can sell that to the person in front of them.
The best sales people are also the ones who don’t try to sell them what they need to sell. If you’re selling a car, you’ll try to sell it to the person who wants to buy a car. If you’re selling software, you’ll try to sell it to the person who wants to buy a software install. If you’re selling anything, you try to sell it to the person who wants to buy it.
As I’ve already said, sell what you need to sell. It’s easy to get into a sales job where you are selling software or a car or things. That’s an easy sell. It takes a little more savvy to sell software and cars. And I’ve found the best salespeople are the ones who know what they need to sell and can sell that to the person in front of them.
The difference between selling software and selling cars is that when you sell software you need to think about this person (you) and what they need. When you sell cars, you dont need to think about this person (you) and what they need. You need to think about the car and what your wife will/can/does to drive it.
That’s my experience. In marketing, I think we mostly focus on the product, not how the person needs it. But that’s still the best thing about marketing: you don’t need to sell anything.
I think part of this is that marketing is a product, not a service. It’s not like selling a product you can’t afford to buy a new set of pants. (At least that’s what I think.) I think marketing is more about giving people ideas and then letting them choose which ones they like and which ones they don’t. Marketing is selling a product.
In marketing, you need to show people how useful the product is and why they should need it. Selling people a product they cannot afford to buy is pointless. You can sell a product for a lot less than what it costs to make, but you must at least explain how you are going to make it and what the price tag is. Selling a product you only have space for is a waste of money, and you will probably just end up with people who do not need it.
