In a corporate vertical marketing system, an employee may have one or more job titles and may not have any job experience. They may have no idea what a marketing manager is and don’t know how to get one. They may not have any idea about the role of a manager or how to get one.
The first step in establishing yourself as a Marketing Manager is to think about what kind of marketing you do. Do you do it on your own or do you work for someone? What if someone works for you and then gets let go? In this case you want to be able to give that person a job, so you’ll need to hire someone to fill the job title.
You can’t just go and hire a guy who doesn’t know what his job is and be done with it. A person who doesn’t know what their job is has no idea what they are doing. But I think it’s even more important to know what it is that you do.
If you’re doing marketing for a company, there is a certain level of accountability that has to be followed. However, the reality is that you dont know what you’re doing, you dont know how you’re going to accomplish the job, you dont know how to get the job done, and you do not have an established set of skills.
To be successful at any industry, you have to have a set of skills, and even more so, a set of skills that are well formed and have a proven track record. It’s not enough to just have a good mind, you have to have a good mind to succeed in any kind of industry.
We love to point out that most industries have a set of well formed skills that are well built and proven. For example, the medical industry has a set of well formed skills including anatomy, physiology, chemistry, pathology, radiation, and a wide range of things that are well built and proven. The legal sector, on the other hand, has a set of well formed skills that are well formed but not well proven. There are many other industries that are well formed but not well proven.
The legal sector is also, ironically, one of the industries that are growing most quickly and is in trouble with its skills. Companies that have been around for several years are always looking for new skill sets to add to their existing pool. Meanwhile, companies that are just starting out often do not have the same sort of skills as they need to be able to compete.
We see this all the time in our company. We’ve got our lawyers, accountants, sales people, and so on. The problem is the skills they need to be able to compete in. The skills we have, on the other hand, are all fairly well proven. But if you look at the world of consulting, engineering, and all the other “new product” industries, they are also the ones that need to be doing more research.
The problem with the new product industry is that it doesn’t seem to have the same skills that are needed to be able to compete. I mean you have to spend a lot of time in school to learn your skills, and then you have to go out and compete with people who are doing the same thing. But the problem is that there isnt enough time in the day to be doing research.
