He was remembered at a funeral service which took place on June 23rd 2016 at Lannach’s church, Rev. Dr. Ani Senn and Reverend Mr. Heinrich Klassen performed the service together with Reverend Mr. Armin Steinmetz’s son and grandson.
And his family who were present at the services as well as fellow teachers, Principal Dr. Herrmann, other members of the school board, interested community members, and other dignitaries.
5. He was married to his wife Irene Steinmetz who was also a teacher for 35 years.
He would be remembered as a caring husband towards his wife who suffered from dementia after 1999, so she had to retire from her job as a teacher.

He would be remembered as very compassionate towards his students. As a teacher many of his students remembered him for being patient with his students, who might have been confused by the things they were learning in school which was beneficial for their future careers.
According to one of the students Mr. Steinmetz was a very caring teacher, he liked to have fun with his students and they would do their best to imitate Mr.Steinmetz’s actions so they could do what this kind man did.
He had a pure heart towards his students. As seen from the article the students remembered him for being very kind and gentle, such as when he ran away from his wife who was getting rather angry at him.
7. He was a kind person, which helped him to successfully pass the grade.
He would be remembered as a kind and compassionate teacher who was not only caring for his students academically but also morally. He cared for his students whom he did not like to take advantage of and helped them understand this concept and it helped him teach them both academically and morally.
As an example, one of the students he taught had to deal with some bullies in her life that she eventually fought back against, Mr. Steinmetz encouraged her rather than scolding her for fighting back against these bullies because he did not like confrontation at all.

He was elected in 2016 after receiving 5 out of 8 votes from the town council members. Armin Steinmetz served as mayor until he passed away on October 6th 2016.
He received 4 out of 7 votes during his reelection campaign in 2014 which made him draw another name to determine if he would be the mayor or not, but he eventually won the election and became the mayor of Lannach once again.
