If you want to get into a marketing career, the first step is to decide if it is something you want to do. Most marketing professionals have only a vague idea about what they want to do and how it will improve their careers. So here are my reasons why I love marketing.
First, marketing is a field that is relatively new, so most of the candidates have little to no experience. Most of the job candidates are in their early 20’s or 30’s, but few have any experience. Most marketing careers are entry-level, but there is a lot of opportunity for advancement in this field. The other reason I love marketing is because you are not actually working in one of these careers, but you are part of the marketing world.
I know, that sounds like a bad thing, but the truth is that marketing is not really that different than any other field. For example, you could play in a band and you have a successful career in music, but you could also be a professional marketing person.
Actually, I think you could be a marketing person and still work as a musician. Sure, it would be a little more difficult, but it’s not impossible either.
Marketing can be a real job. It takes a certain amount of creativity to be successful in this field, but there are plenty of other ways to make a career out of managing people. Marketing can be a full-time job, but some people go into it full-time and then work from home.
I’ve been in both types of situations. This may seem obvious, but I’ve also had companies that paid me to work from home. I would actually love to work from home, but I have to make a couple of trips to a office once or twice a month to manage the marketing materials. Most of my time is spent on customer service, and I’m a good listener.
I can’t argue that marketing is a good fit for some people, but I think the biggest difference between marketing and most other jobs is that marketing is often a full-time job. It would be nice to have more of a “weekend job” and less of a “full-time job.” The same goes for some others fields.
Marketing and sales are two completely different jobs. Salespeople deal with people, while marketing deals with products.
In the video above, you can see Im thinking, “Wow. I have made that a career. I can’t believe I’m doing this. I’m going to be a millionaire at 42.” I love this video because it shows that the sales job is only half the equation. The other half is customer service. It’s the best job in the world and I’m trying to make it mine.
A salesperson is the person who gets a high volume of sales. They’re there to sell the product, not the person. The best salespeople are people who can listen, understand, and relate to their customers. The best way to sell is to show your customers what they want, and then talk to them about what you’re doing to make it happen. In essence, a salesperson is like the “in-store” person.
