The most watched Malayalam movie in Amazon Prime is “Punjabi House”,

which has been rated by one and a half times more customers than any other movie. 

It has a rating of three and a half out of five stars.

The movie stars Mohanlal, Kavya Madhavan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Babu Antony, Salim Kumar and Mukesh. 

The director is Shaji Kailas, screenplay by Renji Panicker and music by Vidyasagar.

This film captures the essence of family love with its captivating story line. 

It depicts the strong bond between a father and his daughter in a sentimental story. 

Mohanlal plays the role of a taxi driver

who falls for the daughter of a wealthy businessman played by Kavya Madhavan. 

The cab driver turns out to be a great dancer and is able to woo her parents, mainly their daughter. 

So she falls in love with him and an interesting drama ensues. 

The film is set against the backdrop of marriage festivities and presents an attractive social message about family values, too.

High-quality content and excellent production values ultimately gave the film a good performance at the box office, but this did not help overcome its weak story and uneven pace.

were widely lauded and made the film an enjoyable watch thanks to these actors.

“Pampa” wrote, “There is nothing much known about Vidyasagar’s pre-background. 

However, the way he has been able to blend melody and music

with the scenario of Mohanlal’s movie makes this soundtrack a must-listen record”.

“The Hindu” wrote, “Writer Renji Panicker has tried to put across

a social message by portraying the hollowness of marriages, which are based mainly on monetary gains. 

While the intention is good, and there are several instances that prove this point,

it all gets lost in the maze of characters and confusion in plot. 

The end result is an unpleasant experience”.

sify.com’s reviewer gave it a four out of five rating and wrote, “Watch Punjabi House only for Kavya Madhavan’s performance. 

She is superb. The plot is simple, but has the potential to entertain.”

“The New Indian Express” said, “Director Shaji Kailas has directed a smart story and script. However performance of actors was not up to the mark”.

The movie received positive critical reviews by critics and audience alike.

Several locations were used in the making of the film. 

The main settings were in Cochin and Kochi while some scenes were filmed at the music director’s house in Kozhikode. 

The cab was later on used in Tamil movie “Mouna Raagam”.
