Most Common Traffic Violations for New Drivers

If you’re about to get your license, make sure you know what the most common traffic violations are for new drivers.

The first time you break any of these rules, it’s no big deal. But if you end up doing it enough times,

your record will reflect this and will add points to your driver’s license.

So what exactly should you do if you’re not sure of the correct procedure? Here are nine major violations that new drivers can get ticketed for.

1. Speeding:

When you’re a new driver, especially if you haven’t gotten your license yet, your reflexes haven’t yet been trained.

A number or numbers on a speedometer may look like a jumbled mess to you.

The harder it is to drive slower, the more likely they are to speed up instead of behind the wheel and find the safest way from point A to point B .

2. Communication with other drivers:

When you’re a new driver, you may not be able to see other cars on the road or understand what they are saying.

You also may not be able to see pedestrians or road signs that could help guide your behavior.

This can make you prone to accidents because of your lack of communication skills.

3. Follow the rules:

New drivers don’t always follow the rules and end up getting into car accidents as a result.

These violations include parking in the wrong location, speeding and moving while texting while driving can be dangerous and can even lead to an accident,

public drunkenness and being nude in a public place if you put on clothing while drunk (and yes, this happens ).

4. Sidewalks and crosswalks:

Being almost anywhere in the city can be dangerous for someone who’s not familiar with it,

especially if he misses a stop sign or crosses at an intersection. You shouldn’t go on sidewalks if you’re driving, even if the sidewalk is perfectly fine.

5. Pavement markings:

If you’re a new driver, you might not know to stay off of the sidewalks, especially if they’re cracked or uneven.

This could lead to an accident because of your lack of knowledge on pavement markings and intersections, even though they may be perfectly fine.

6. Passing:

Similar to sidewalk and crosswalk rules, you may not know to pass in the middle of intersections.

You should pass at a much slower rate than you would normally and be aware of your surroundings.

7. Underage drinking:

Even if you’re over the age of 21, being intoxicated in public can lead to an arrest or being fined especially if it’s a first offense .

While it’s not illegal for you to be drunk if you’re over 21, trying to pretend otherwise can lead you into trouble that other drivers should avoid as well.

8. Trespassing:

Most laws about trespassing don’t apply for new drivers that are just starting out.

Many governments have an 18 to 21 year old age limit for driving, so minors don’t have to follow the same laws of being a new driver as adults.

However, there are underage drinking and underage fraternization rules that also don’t apply to minors.

9. No turn on red:

If you’re a new driver, you should not turn right on red, even if it’s safe to do so because

switching lanes could be dangerous or could cause other drivers to go into an accident thinking the same thing.

These violations can all be counted against you and can affect your driving record .

For example, if you get a ticket for speeding and texting and you’re caught again, you will receive more points.

If you’ve already got lots of ticket points, then a ticket for even more that are related

to your driving can lead to an additional suspension of your license. most minor violations will drop off of your driving record after

So keep these rules in mind before getting your driver’s license so you can avoid any mishaps in the future.

Not all violations will affect your driving record , but there are some that definitely will.

For others, it’ll just mean extra trouble paying fines or possibly taking classes to learn how to drive better.

Good luck with getting your license and learning how not to get a ticket.

One of the most important things that you need to know about car insurance is that you need to have it.

While many drivers believe that they can manage without having this coverage,

the truth is that it is much more difficult than people realize. Here are some of the reasons why you should have coverage and why it is much better than going without it.

If you do get into an accident or your vehicle is stolen, then you won’t have any options if you don’t select the right plan for yourself.

It is also a requirement by law that you have insurance in order to drive in most states.
