TikTok is the latest app that has been sweeping the nation. It’s a social media app that allows users to create short videos and pictures by slapping a smartphone on their face and moving their bodies to record a video or snap a photo. 

And, of course, you can add filters to your image or video to change the look of it for an even more engaging experience. 

It’s been around since 2015, but TikTok has been called one of the most popular apps in America right now because its viewership is steadily increasing every day. It’s not hard to see why.

One of the best features on TikTok is the ability to “hide” other people’s accounts if you’re not interested in following them. 

This eliminates the feeling that you’re following people that don’t follow back.

TikTok gives you the option to request to follow other accounts. If you like someone’s account, all you have to do is request for them to follow yours. 

For example, if I liked another user’s dance cover video on TikTok, I could request them to follow my account without having to stalk their Instagram or Snapchat which can be kind of creepy sometimes. If they chose not to follow me back, I wouldn’t see their account again.

4) The ability to tag people.

This is one of the most fun features on TikTok. Whenever you post a video, you get to choose up to 6 different people that you want tagged. After you post your video, it shows up on their timelines which is super exciting for users that are popular on the platform or just have a lot of friends.

5) The messages feature.

TikTok messages are basically Snapchat messages except they’re called DMs (Direct Messages). When sending someone a message, it only appears in the other person’s inbox if they choose to watch it. 

This is super easy to find which allows for quick communication to other users. Another cool feature is the fact that you can send stickers in your DMs.

One of the best aspects of TikTok is that it’s very easy to make your own sticker packs. For example, when I want to make a sticker pack, I simply search “TikTok stickers” on Imgur or another app and download another person’s meme packs which are super popular on the platform today.

7) The fact that it’s free.

Along with the ability to post anonymously with no time limit, it’s also free to use! This is one of the most common things that attract younger users.
